Shrums Pest Control_Mouse

Similar to Rats, mice present a very real and formidable challenge for businesses. Mice will chew through wiring and damage property, plant and equipment. Mice also serve as vectors for transmittance of diseases. At Shrum’s Pest Control we understand the impact rodents can have on your reputation and on your bottom line. We have extensive experience in the Portland-Metro area managing prolific rodent populations for over 35 years.

What are we dealing with? This is the question Shrum’s Pest Control will answer first in order to make a professional recommendation and ultimately deliver an effective treatment to control mouse populations at your location.

Critical to the success of our programs to manage mouse populations for our clients is collaborating on solutions that will prevent rodents from entering the home or place of business in the first place. Our clients must take steps to address issues that are perpetuating an infestation onsite.

Foundations, vents and roofing may require repair in order to exclude mice from entering the location. Overgrown landscaping that is contacting the building may need attention. Eliminating a food source may be necessary. These are just a few examples of areas that may need to be addressed as we move forward with controlling mouse populations at your location.

Baiting is our primary method for controlling mouse infestations. Successful baiting requires that our baits be palatable. At Shrum’s Pest Control we use grain based soft baits. We never use the more durable, less palatable wax-based baits that our competitors often times use. While this choice on our part requires that we monitor our bait stations more closely and frequently, the extra work pays off when rodents hit our bait stations consistently. Another important factor for baiting is knowing when and when not to bait based on laws and the property being serviced. Discerning the difference will head off compliance violations for our clients. Unlike rats, the small physical size of mice prevents undesirable odors from becoming a problem.

For situations where baiting is not possible or legal (food service/handling customers), we will trap mice using various types of mechanical traps. Trapping boils down to observing travel patterns and nesting locations and then using our vast experience to effectively place our traps to be the most efficient possible.
